5 Ways to Make Your Room Feel Brand New

Hello everyone.

I would just like to firstly say that I am sorry about the whole not-posting thing... I've been very jet-lagged, on holiday, and decluttering my room almost everyday. Which, brings me onto this post, that I write, sat at my newly cleaned desk and with a paint smell wafting about. Sound unlike you right now? Read on.

Happy Decorating!

Love always,

Being Poorly & Skin Solutions

Hello everybody,

So recently (as of around 2 days ago) I have been feeling like a piece of poo. I have extremely humungous lymph glands in my neck, because I was born with enlarged ones to start with. I have been shaky and tingly, and lifting my arm hurts like hell. Seriously, this morning I could not even swallow my own spit... I know. Very attractive. But I thought sharing this information might help you if you have been feeling a bit under the weather because I may have found some life saving (literally) remedies.

Steam
Boil the kettle, and pour it into a bowl. Fling a towel over your head and the bowl of hot water and breathe in the steam. Its so relaxing, and although its hard to get used to at first, quite literally halved the size of my glands after 1 use!

Honey + Lemon
Again, boil the kettle and pour into a mug. Cut up about 3 slices of lemon and add a teaspoon of honey. Drink up! This is great for soothing your throat, and is a great temporary treatment.

Hot Towel
For a third time, boil that kettle and put it in a bath or a large dish. Throw a little flannel in there and squeeze out excess water before holding it on your neck, ideally all the way around. Hold it on your neck until the towel becomes noticeably cold.

Being poorly and being a general teenager also impacts your skin. I can honestly say my skin was so clear up to Year 9 in school, when everything went downhill. I have spot prone skin, and I've had my fair share in the last year. I get blemishes and mild acne in my T Zone particularly, around my nose, and on my chin. I have been using the Effaclar, french drying and soothing cleanser and toner, which has worked so well on my Mum and other people I know, but not on me. I has definitely calmed down my skins oils and balance, but not the spots so much. However, I have found a great cleanser and moisturiser my mum had hidden away in a drawer she asked me to try. I tried it once, and as it says on the bottle, I really did have results from day 1. She went out and bought me the full bottle and the moisturiser and it is great great stuff.

I am, of course, talking about the Garnier PureActive Intensive Deep Pore Unclogging Gel Wash for Oily to Spot-Prone Skin. (what a mouthful, but I thought you should know exactly what it does) It is a fabulous price, and the smell makes you feel like your treating your skin so well. I have also been using their 24hr moisturiser that is part of the same range. I could honestly rave about this product all day.

Hoping your having a lovely summer,

The Only Review You Need of The Benefits Pore Range

Hello loves.

I know I promised a 7 day review, but I really didn't feel the need, post experience.
If you came here to persuade that this product is going to be your next needed item, i'm afraid you are not going to be happy.
via talkbeckytalk.com

This product, I can honestly say, does absolutely nothing.
I had horrible breakouts.
It felt like glue.
Its very unhygienic.

It. Doesn't. Work.

Now, I know you will be thinking, jeez Kate, little too harsh? We can agree to disagree, however I feel like you should all understand my feelings about this product and its 'capabilities'. I am really unsure as to why it sells so much and bloggers have raving reviews about this, and if perhaps I have used it wrong, or my skin is just not suited to this product. Whatever it is, it did not work.
The first day I used it, I had a fresh face, no makeup and was free from oily and dryness as I had just gone through my skincare process. I applied it straight onto my skin as I have seen previous reviewers do many a time (much to my surprise) furthermore using it where I could for sure see pores and blemishes, which was around my nose. I rubbed over the area around 5/6 times, and even compared before and after pictures to make sure I wasn't missing the miracle, but I was right.
However, being the lovely person I am, I decided to give it another go; though to my understanding  yet again, made my skin feel gooey and glue-like and only seeped into my pores encouraging whiteheads and other disgusting lumps on my face, I had only weeks before nearly had under control.

I would love to know your thoughts on this product, your past experiences and whether you have been put off Pore-fessional by Benefit by this article...

Another fabulous review

Particularly great review of the product in a nutshell:

"What really bugs me about the whole concept behind this product is that it doesn’t really take into consideration how oily skin and makeup work. Even if my skin was still fresh and oil-free, dabbing and swiping a rock-hard stick of anything would be more likely to take my makeup off than anything else. Add in the fact that you’re only ever going to use this when your skin is already noticeably oily and you’ve essentially got yourself a little makeup remover stick." See the review here

Exciting Deliveries from Benefit Cosmetics

Hello girls,

So an exciting delivery came for me a couple of days ago, and I was so excited I couldn't contain myself. I texted all my friends frantically and immediately ripped open the beautiful green tissue paper that it was wrapped in and saw the product. I honestly was shocked to see a Benefit product, because I never believed they would send me it after being on their blog list for a few weeks.
It is quite small, only a tester, version of the new License To Blot, part of the Porefessional Family and came with a little leaflet.

My plan is to do a 7 day review of the product, seeing how it goes day by day.
I hope you all see how it goes and what I think of the product, maybe you will decide for yourself...
